- Where to find it
- Labelled Video Selector in the "Selected Component" section of the Modify drawer.
- Offered by
- The Video component. Other components do not have this setting.
- Per device
- Yes — you can set one value for every screen, or separate values for phone, tablet, and desktop.
In plain English
This is where you choose the video. It opens your team's video library, so you pick from files that have already been uploaded rather than pasting in a link or embedding someone else's player.
Upload those files under Videos on the team dashboard — MP4, WebM, or MOV, up to about 100 MB — before you open this picker. That library is separate from Images. On a video's detail page you can save default playback settings; selecting the video here can fill empty fields on the component from those defaults.
Whatever you uploaded is converted on its way to each visitor into a format their browser can play, at a size sensible for a web page. You do not have to prepare versions yourself.
Because it is per-device, you can choose a different video for phones than for desktops. That is worth doing when the desktop version is a long, wide establishing shot and phones would be better served by something shorter and tighter.
When you would use it
- Adding or replacing any video on the page.
- A product demo, a testimonial, or a short background clip behind a headline.
How to change it
- If the clip is not in the library yet, open Videos on the team dashboard, upload an MP4, WebM, or MOV, and optionally set defaults on its detail page.
- Click the video component on the canvas.
- In the Modify drawer, open "Selected Component", then "Video Selector".
- Browse your team's videos, search or filter by tag, and select a video.
- Uncheck "Same value for all resolutions" to choose a different video per device.
Watch out for
- Video Selector only lists videos. Posters and other stills belong in Images; use Poster Image for those.
- Long videos are a poor fit for a page that has to load quickly. A clip under a couple of minutes keeps the file small enough to start playing promptly.
- Video carries no alt text. If it says something your page depends on, put that in words nearby as well — captions, a summary, or a transcript.
