In plain English
While the text is collapsed, the toggle shows this label. Leave it empty and readers see "Show more". Type your own wording when that phrase does not fit the tone of the page — "Read the rest", "View full bio", and so on.
The label is one line. Newlines and a {br|} marker collapse to spaces. It can use the same {b|…}, {i|…}, {s|…} and {.1|…} markers as Content Text, against this text's own Class Names & Styles list. A link marker prints its words as plain text — links are not offered here.
Colour belongs on the label, not on the column. Text Color and Background Color paint the whole column, including the paragraph. These labels start in that same text colour. To colour only the toggle, add one entry under Class Names & Styles and point both labels at it. Entry 1 with Styles set to color: #D31789; text-decoration: underline, Show More Label set to {.1|Show more}, and Show Less Label set to {.1|Show less}, turns just those two phrases pink. The paragraph stays whatever Typography already set, because the marker is not in Content Text. Changing that one Styles line recolours both labels.
Like the character budget, it is per device, so a short label on phones and a longer one on desktop is allowed when that helps.
When you would use it
- The default "Show more" does not match the voice of the surrounding copy.
- A branded or translated phrase for the expand control.
- The toggle should be a brand colour, such as #D31789, while the paragraph stays as it is.
How to change it
- Click the text component on the canvas.
- In the Modify drawer, open "Selected Component", then "Class Names & Styles".
- Press "Add styling". On the first entry, set Styles to color: #D31789; text-decoration: underline.
- Open "Show More Label" and type {.1|Show more}. Open "Show Less Label" and type {.1|Show less}.
- To change the wording only, edit the words inside the braces. To change the colour of both labels, edit that one Styles line.
- Clear a label to fall back to "Show more" or "Show less".
- Uncheck "Same value for all resolutions" to differ per device.
Watch out for
- This only appears when Show More After has a positive whole number and the text is long enough to truncate.
- Markers that point at a missing Class Names & Styles entry show as ordinary words, the same way they do in Content Text.
- Link markers never become links on this label, even if Links has matching entries.
- A styled label does not keep the automatic underline. Once the words are wrapped in {.1|…}, write text-decoration: underline in that entry's Styles. The default line cannot cross into the styled words.
- Do not set Text Color on the column to colour the toggle. That setting is inherited by the paragraph as well.
